This article explains how to enable Cloudflare on your site in the panel.
If you're using WordPress, make sure to change the URLs in your database before activating Cloudflare.
Extra step for WordPress sites
Make sure you change the URLs in your WordPress site before activating Cloudflare in the panel. Failure to do this may cause a redirect loop on your website.
If your site is running WordPress, there are many hard-coded URLs in your database that may point to the non-www version of your domain. In order to use Cloudflare, all URLs in your WordPress database must point to the www version. For example:
If you do not update the URLs in your database, you will see an infinite redirect loop error.

- Go to Manage Domains.
- Once you add a hosting plan to your domain, click the Edit button to the right of the domain under the 'Web Hosting' column.
- If you are using Cloudflare without a subdomain, then select 'Add WWW' for domain name when asked 'Do you want www in your URL?'
- Scroll down to the 'Cloudflare Services' section.
- Check the 'Enable Cloudflare on this domain?' check box.
- Select the Cloudflare account type:
- If you don’t have a Cloudflare account, you’ll need to select the 'New Account' option in the drop down menu for the Cloudflare account. You’ll then need to enter a valid email address that you’d like to use for the account and create a password for the new Cloudflare account. You’ll use this username and password to log in and manage your account at Cloudflare.com.
- If you already have a Cloudflare account, select the ‘Existing Account’ option from the dropdown menu. You’ll then need to enter your Cloudflare account’s email address and password.
- If you’ve already set up a Cloudflare account in your panel for another domain or set up Cloudflare previously, you’ll see an option for ‘Existing Accounts’ listed in the drop down menu. If you see this option and would like to use an existing account, simply select the email address you’d like to use.
- Once you’ve set up your Cloudflare account, select the Cloudflare subscription level.
- Visit the Cloudflare Subscriptions article for further details on these plans.
- Scroll down and click the Change Settings button to save your new settings.
- Within 5-10 minutes the domain will update to use Cloudflare at DreamHost.
- However, the DNS changes to the domain will take longer to fully propagate online in order to enable Cloudflare to work.
- If you see the following error, then you must ensure that your domain is configured to use WWW in the domain name:
After Cloudflare is enabled, you’ll also see Cloudflare listed along with the PHP version under the ‘Web Hosting’ column on the ‘Manage Domains’ page. You’ll also see a Clear Cache option to the right of the domain in case you ever need to purge your Cloudflare cache.
To disable Cloudflare, repeat the steps above but make sure to uncheck the Enable Cloudflare on this domain? check box before saving the changes.
