Overview
This article explains how to add a MySQL VPS to your account or delete one that has already been added.
Adding a MySQL VPS
The process for adding a MySQL VPS is different depending on whether you've already added a VPS to your account.
If you've added a VPS
The following directions apply if you have already added a VPS to your account.
- Navigate to the VPS page.
- Click the Add Server+ button and select MySQL Virtual Private Server.
- Choose a plan and then click the Get This VPS button to purchase it. Once added, it may take a few hours to provision the new server.
When you sign up for a MySQL VPS, all your databases are moved to it at midnight Pacific time. (The panel shows it as a merge.)
- When the Cart page opens, review the order summary and then click the Submit Order button.
After it’s provisioned, you can manage it on your VPS dashboard page.
If you have NOT added a VPS
The following directions apply if you have NOT added a VPS to your account. Before proceeding, make sure you have added a new database if none exists.
- Navigate to the MySQL Databases page.
- Under the Current MySQL Databases section, click the Turn on a MySQL VPS! link.
- On the next page, select a MySQL VPS plan.
- Click the Checkout Now button.
- Select from the following options:
- Move all current users and domains to this new VPS.
- I'd also like to cancel my current Shared Unlimited plan.
- Don't move anything to this new VPS.
- Click Submit Order to add the server to your account.
Deleting a MySQL VPS
If you have a MySQL VPS with 3GB or more of data and no Dedicated server, you cannot use the Delete button in the panel to delete your MySQL VPS. You must decrease the size to less than 3GB for each MySQL VPS database in order to delete it.
If you no longer need your private database server, you can delete it in your panel.
- Navigate to the VPS page. You will see your server listed as sqlXXXXX.
- To the right of your MySQL VPS, click the three-dot button and select Delete.
- Check the box if you wish to transfer all data to another server.
- Click the Delete VPS button when finished.
Your data will then be migrated to the shared server within 24hrs.
