BoldGrid is no longer available for new WordPress installations. The information described in this article can only be used if BoldGrid was previously installed.
This article walks you through creating a backup with Total Upkeep and viewing it on your server.
Background
BoldGrid installations include a backup plugin named Total Upkeep, which allows you to configure how, when, and where your WordPress website and database files are stored.
The Total Upkeep Premium plugin is also pre-installed with your BoldGrid installation, at no extra charge. Below are some of the features included with the premium version:
- Database encryption
- Timely auto updates
- Update history
- Individual file restorations
How to create a backup
The following sections show you how to manage a backup.
Selecting when to run the backup
To select when to run a backup:
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- In the left menu, hover over Total Upkeep and select Settings.
- In the left menu, click Backup Schedule and select which days to run the backup.
- Click Save Changes.
Setting the backup location
To set the backup location:
- Select Backup Storage from the menu. Here you can select from the following options where the backup is stored.
- Web Server — Your DreamHost server
- FTP / SFTP — Any server you like
- Amazon S3 — The Amazon cloud service
- Google Drive — Your Google account
- Check the box next to Web Server to store your backup on your DreamHost server.

Click the Configure link to the right if you want to backup to any other service.
It's recommended to leave the Full Backup options selected for your files and database.
- Click Save Changes.
Viewing your backups in WordPress
The Backups tab displays any existing backups that have been created.
Click the View details button to view more detailed information of what was backed up.
Viewing your backups on the web server
If you chose to back up to the web server, your backups are located under your username in a directory named /boldgrid_backup. You can log in via FTP or SSH to view the backups.
The following .zip and .log files appear:
