Overview
This article provides information on Temporary SSL certificates and how they appear in the DreamHost panel.
Why a temporary SSL certificate appears in the panel
A temporary SSL certificate is simply a Self-Signed certificate. You cannot create these in the panel. However, you will see them displayed in your panel in two instances, which are described in the following sections.
Self-Signed certificates
If you added a Self-Signed certificate to your domain in the past, it will continue to function. However, the Secure Certificates page now displays it as a Temporary certificate.
If you'd like to change this to a Let's Encrypt or Sectigo certificate, see this article.
Sectigo certificates
When purchasing a Sectigo SSL certificate, the panel automatically installs it. During this process, a temporary certificate is set up, which can be viewed under the Certificate tab.
When the Sectigo certificate is finally installed, it takes the place of this temporary certificate.
