Using Google Workspace with your email application

You can use any mail client you like—Outlook, Mac Mail, Thunderbird, and others—to view email hosted at Google Workspace. This article lists the settings you need to set up your mail client, including IMAP server details and Google's daily bandwidth limits.

Bandwidth limits

Google sets specific bandwidth limits on downloads and uploads. Make sure you do not exceed these limits or Google may temporarily lock you out of your account.

How do I configure IMAP?

Step 1 — Enable IMAP in Gmail

  1. On your computer, open Gmail.

  2. In the top right, click Settings gear icon.

  3. From the dropdown, click See all settings.

  4. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

  5. In the IMAP Access section, select Enable IMAP.

  6. Click the Save Changes button to save.
