Editing your Remixer site with the Visual Editor

Overview

The Remixer Visual Editor lets you make quick content changes to your site by clicking directly on the page, with no prompt required. The Visual Editor lets you:

  • Edit text — Click any text on the page and type to change it.

  • Replace images — Upload your own image, choose one from your media library, or generate a new one with AI.

  • Point the AI at a specific part of your page — Use the Focus tool to select an element, then describe the change you want in the AI chat.

The Visual Editor saves your changes automatically. Each edit appears as an item in your AI chat, so you have a record of what changed. The AI chat stays open while you edit.

The Visual Editor handles text and images. To change layout, colors, fonts, or spacing, or to add new sections, describe the change in the AI chat. The Focus tool lets you point at exactly the element you want changed.

How do I open the Visual Editor?

  1. Log in to your DreamHost panel and open your site in Remixer.

  2. In the top-left corner of the editor, click Visual Editor.

A toolbar appears at the bottom of your site preview, and the AI chat stays open on the right.

The toolbar contains three buttons:

ButtonWhat it does
Focus tool (cursor with sparkle icon)Selects an element on the page so you can ask the AI about it
Edit text & images (pencil icon)Lets you click text or images on the page to edit them. This mode is on when you open the Visual Editor.
Exit visual editor (X icon)Closes the Visual Editor and returns you to the normal preview

How do I edit text?

  1. Make sure Edit text & images (pencil icon) is selected in the bottom toolbar.

  2. Click any text on your page, such as a headline, paragraph, or button label.

  3. Type your changes directly on the page.

  4. Click outside the text when you're done.

Your change saves automatically and appears as an item in your AI chat.

To change your homepage headline from "Sketch it. We stitch it." to "Your drawing, made huggable," click the headline, select the old text, and type the new text.

How do I replace an image?

  1. Make sure Edit text & images (pencil icon) is selected.

  2. Click the image you want to replace.

  3. Choose one of the following:

    • Upload an image from your computer.

    • Choose from your media library to reuse an image you've already added.

    • Generate with AI to create a new image. Describe what you want, for example, "a pink plush bunny on a white studio background."

The new image replaces the old one on your page and saves automatically.

For best results, use an image with a similar shape to the one you're replacing. For example, use a wide image for a banner.

How do I ask the AI to change a specific element?

Use the Focus tool when you want a change that goes beyond text and images, such as a new color, a different layout, or a bigger button.

  1. In the bottom toolbar, click Focus tool (cursor with sparkle icon).

  2. Click the element on your page that you want to change, such as a button, section, or image.

  3. In the AI chat box, describe the change. For example:

    • "Make this button larger and change it to dark pink."

    • "Add more space above this section."

    • "Turn this into a three-column layout."

  4. Press Enter to send.

Because you selected the element, the AI knows exactly which part of your page you mean.

Are my changes saved automatically?

Yes. The Visual Editor saves every edit automatically, so there is no Save button to click. Each edit appears as an item in your AI chat, so you can see what changed and when.

  • To undo a change, find the item in your AI chat and use its revert (↶) option to restore the previous version.

  • To make your changes live, click Publish in the top-right corner.

Can I preview my edits on a mobile screen?

Yes. Click the phone icon in the top-left toolbar to see how your edits look on a mobile screen.

How do I leave the Visual Editor?

Click the X (Exit visual editor) in the bottom toolbar. The Visual Editor has already saved your changes.

What happened to the Styles panel and Developer mode?

The Visual Editor is now a simpler editor for text and images. The following tools are no longer available:

  • The Styles panel (fonts, colors, spacing, borders, sizing, shadows, and animations)

  • The toolbar that appeared next to a selected element (duplicate, delete, font size, and so on)

  • Developer mode (Layers, Insert, and Layout)

  • The Save and Exit buttons in the top bar (the Visual Editor now saves automatically)

  • The keyboard shortcuts panel

To make those changes now, use the Focus tool to select the element, then describe what you want in the AI chat. For example:

Previously you would…Now you can ask the AI…
Change the font size in the Styles panel"Make this heading smaller."
Set a background color"Change this section's background to cream."
Adjust margin or padding"Add more space between these cards."
Duplicate an element"Add another testimonial card like this one."
Delete an element"Remove this button."
Insert a new section from Developer mode"Add a pricing section below this one."
Hide an element on phones"Hide this image on mobile."
