This article describes the process to make a pre-payment to your DreamHost account.
The pre-payment you submit remains on your account as a positive credit balance until a charge/service becomes due. The pre-payment credit is applied automatically to your account's next charge, and it cannot be reserved for a specific charge/service.
How to make a pre-payment
Payments must be made through your DreamHost panel, which offers a secure way to transmit payment data.
To make a pre-payment, navigate to the Manage Payments page.
Available payment options
You can use various payment options to make a pre-payment, including:
- Credit/Debit Card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and Diners Club)
- PayPal
- Electronic Check / ACH
- Rewards Credit
There is a one-week hold on an Electronic Check / ACH before it can be used to make a payment.

What happens after I make a pre-payment?
Once you make a pre-payment using any of the above payment options, your account shows a positive balance on the Manage Payments page with the amount you paid.
The DreamHost charge appears as DreamHost dh-fee.com on your bank statement.
