Overview
The following describes where Goods and Services Tax (GST) is collected and how to make changes to your tax status within the DreamHost panel.
Who is charged GST?
The Australian Taxation Office mandates that web-hosting service providers outside of Australia apply a Goods and Services Tax (GST) to their services for customers residing within Australia.
GST-registered businesses making purchases for business use may be exempt from paying GST. To qualify for this exemption, your organization must provide its business name and a valid Australian Business Number (ABN).
All prices listed on the DreamHost website do not include GST. For organizations that are not exempt, GST is calculated and charged separately in compliance with the Australian taxation guidelines.
General information
DreamHost's ATO Reference Number
DreamHost is registered as a non-resident business using the simplified registration. This means DreamHost does not have an ABN but an ATO Reference Number (ARN). DreamHost's ARN will be added to all Australian customers' invoices.

FAQs
What if my ABN ID fails to be verified?
-
If you receive an invalid ABN error, you can check the following sites for more information (such as the validity of the ID, database status, or formatting issues):
DreamHost only accepts GST-registered ABNs. If your business/ABN is not GST registered, it will be rejected as invalid.
Why am I being charged GST?
-
DreamHost determines GST eligibility based on the address listed on the account in question. If you reside in a locality that requires GST to be charged, DreamHost will apply GST as required.
Can I have my ABN added to my invoices?
-
Yes. DreamHost currently supports adding valid GST-registered ABNs to your invoices for any customer located in Australia.
I use Google SSO and need to edit my address — what should I do?
-
If you have moved, then it is important to update your address, as this may affect your GST status. Customers using Google SSO will need to contact support for assistance with updating their address to ensure their account is GST compliant (when applicable).
