This article explains how to request a free, handcrafted WordPress website.
Background
DreamHost offers free, handcrafted WordPress websites to hosting customers.
A handcrafted website is a custom WordPress site created by DreamHost’s WordPress support team. These sites are:
- Mobile-responsive (works well on all devices)
- SEO-ready
- Secured and fully hosted by DreamHost
These sites can include up to four pages. For example: Home, About, Services, and Contact. Your site will be built using your branding, content, and style preferences.
Eligibility
This service is included at no additional cost for customers on a yearly hosting plan. Each customer is eligible for one free handcrafted website. If you've already received your handcrafted website, additional sites are not included as part of this service.
How to request a free website
You can request a free website from several places in your DreamHost panel:
- Home page in your panel — Open your panel and look for the We'll Build Your Website — Free! banner. Click Claim Your Free Site.
- Manage Websites > Content tab — Navigate to the Manage Websites page and click the Manage button next to your website. Click the Content tab, scroll down to the Free Handcrafted Starter Website section, and click Get Started.
- Manage Websites > Dashboard tab — Navigate to the Manage Websites page and click the Manage button next to your website. Click the Dashboard tab and then click We'll Build You a Free Starter Website under Site Purpose.
- When adding a domain to your account — After adding your domain, select Handcrafted Starter Website under the setup options.
Submitting the form
When you click Get Started, you’ll be taken to a form where you provide details about your site, including:
- Site purpose and style preferences
- Text and content
- The ability to upload images or branding files
Once submitted, the request goes to DreamHost’s expert site-building team. They’ll build your site and notify you by email when it’s ready (typically within 48 hours).
What to expect
You will receive a complete, ready-to-launch WordPress site with up to four pages created for you. After delivery, you are free to continue editing your site as much as you like, adding more pages, installing new plugins, changing design elements, or updating content directly within WordPress.
