Overview
Remixer credits are spent whenever Remixer's AI builds or modifies your site — through initial site generation, AI chat prompts, or generating a new AI image. Manual edits, hosting, and publishing never use credits. This article explains how much Remixer costs, how to check your balance, when credits reset each month, how the free trial works, and how to buy more.
How much do I pay for Remixer?
Remixer is available as a free trial and on the paid Build plan. AI actions — generating your app and making edits through chat — draw on credits from your plan's allowance, covered in detail below.
Publishing your site never uses credits. Direct edits you make yourself in Editor mode are also free, with the exception of a few AI-assisted tools noted in the next section.
What uses Remixer credits?
Remixer credits are used whenever you ask Remixer's AI to build or modify your site and are spent by AI-powered actions within the Remixer tool. For example:
Initial site generation (the first draft built from your description)
AI chat prompts that build or modify your site
Asking Remixer questions or chatting with the AI Bot, even when you're not asking it to build or change anything
Generating a new AI image. Swapping or replacing an existing image for another does not use credits.
Generating a video, up to four videos per generation. Video generation does not use more credits than most other AI-powered actions.
Manual edits do not use credits. Anything you change directly in the editor (e.g., clicking text to retype it or adjusting spacing) is free, even after your credits are exhausted. A few AI-assisted tools inside Editor mode are the exception and do use credits, such as the generate-text suggestion tool and generating a new image while editing.
Hosting your site, publishing changes, and serving traffic to visitors do not use credits.
How are my credits spent?
There's no flat cost per prompt. Credits are spent based on how much work the AI has to do, which varies widely between requests — even between two prompts that look similar. As a guideline, you can estimate costs using this table:

How do I check my balance?
To check the credits in your account:
Open the Remixer page in your panel.
Review your remaining credits for the current billing cycle.
Your balance is shared across all Remixer sites under your account and appears beneath the Remixer input field.
When do my credits reset?
Credit allotments reset on your billing cycle anniversary each month. For example, if your plan bills on the 12th, your credits refresh on the 12th of each month. Unused credits at the end of your billing cycle will expire and not roll over. Monthly credits are always used first.
First-month bonus — Your first paid month includes a one-time bonus on top of your standard monthly allotment. The bonus is granted once per customer and does not repeat (i.e., standard monthly allotment: 1,000 credits; first-month bonus: 1,000 credits).
One-time Remixer credits — Additional credits are available for purchase to accounts with an active Remixer plan. Credits from these bundles remain available for 6 months from the date of purchase and are used after any monthly credits you have on your account.
How does my Remixer trial work?
Remixer offers a free 30-day trial so you can build and preview a site before committing to a paid plan. Your trial starts when you sign up for Remixer and begin a project — no domain or hosting plan is required to start building.
Trial credits are a one-time allowance for the length of your trial and do not reset the way a paid plan's monthly allotment does. Spend your trial credits before you upgrade, since they are not carried into a paid plan.
Your trial ends when the 30-day period elapses or your trial credits run out, whichever happens first. When your trial ends, you'll be prompted to subscribe to a paid plan to keep building with AI and to publish your site to a custom domain.
How do I move to a paid plan?
You can upgrade to a paid Remixer plan from either of two places:
In the panel — Open the Remixer page in your panel and scroll down to view the available Build plan options.
In Remixer — Click the credit count at the top of your project's chat panel to view the same upgrade options without leaving your project.
Both paths lead to the same purchase flow used for any other DreamHost hosting plan, with an added prepayment step for your first term.
How do I buy more credits?
Active subscribers can buy one-time Remixer credits from either the panel or directly in the Remixer tool.
In the panel
Open the Remixer page in your panel.
Scroll down and choose a One-time Remixer Credit option and complete the purchase.
In Remixer
Open a Remixer project.
The project page for your site opens and your available credits appear above the chat history on the right side.
Click the available credits in the upper right.
Select the Add Credits + option and follow the steps to complete the purchase.
One-time Remixer credits:
are added instantly and do not change your plan or billing cycle.
are not available to trial users.
What happens when my credits run out?
If your balance reaches zero, AI features pause until you add additional Remixer Credits (if you have a paid plan already) or your credits reset. For example:
AI chat prompts won't run.
Generating a new AI image pauses. Swapping an existing image for another still works.
Manual editing still works.
Your published site stays live.

How do I add credits?
To add credits directly from the Remixer tool:
Open the Remixer page in your panel.
Click your credit total and select the Add Credits + option.
Select a Remixer Credit option and add it to the cart.
Complete the panel checkout flow to add the credits to your account.

Is hosting included with my Remixer plan?
Yes. Hosting, SSL, and customer support are all included.
Do unused credits from my plan carry over to the next month?
No. Monthly credits reset on your billing cycle anniversary and do not roll over.
Does my published site go down if I run out of credits?
No. Your published site is unaffected by your credit balance. Only AI features pause.
Are manual edits free?
