Overview
The Domain Dashboard consolidates a domain's most common registration-management actions — renewal, contact and privacy settings, nameservers, and transfer controls — into a single page in the DreamHost panel. This article covers what the Domain Dashboard shows and how to reach each of its controls.
Background
Every domain listed on the Manage Domains page has a Manage button next to its Renew button. Clicking Manage opens that domain's Domain Dashboard.
How do I open a domain's Domain Dashboard?
- Navigate to the Manage Domains page.
- Click the Manage button next to the domain you want to manage.
The Domain Dashboard opens on its Dashboard tab, with two additional tabs — Contact Information and Nameservers — along the top.
What does the Domain Status widget show?
The Domain Status widget shows the domain's current status: Active, Redemption, Hold, Suspended, or Expired. From this widget, use the Enable Auto-Renewal toggle to turn auto-renewal on or off, or click the Checkout button to renew the domain early.
What does the Registrant widget show?
The Registrant widget shows the domain's contact information, with a link to edit it, and whether the domain is Verified or Not Verified. This widget also includes the Domain Privacy Protection toggle.
What does the Nameservers widget show?
The Nameservers widget shows the domain's current nameservers, with a link to edit them.
What does the Transfer widget show?
The Transfer widget includes the Transfer Lock toggle and a Get Auth Code button, which generates the EPP (Auth) code needed to transfer the domain to another registrar.
FAQs
Does the Domain Dashboard replace the Manage Domains page?
No. The Manage Domains page still lists all of your domains with their Auto-Renewal and Transfer Lock status and a Renew button. The Domain Dashboard is an additional, per-domain view opened with the Manage button.
Does using the Domain Dashboard change how renewal, privacy, or transfer works?
No. The dashboard's controls trigger the same underlying processes as the equivalent controls elsewhere in the panel.
What do the Domain Status values mean?
Active means the registration is current. Expired and Redemption relate to a domain past its expiration date; see What if my domain registration expires? and Redeem a domain registration for details. Hold and Suspended reflect a restriction placed on the domain or account; contact support for specifics on a domain in either state.
What does Verified or Not Verified mean?
See Domain verification policy for details on domain contact verification.
Where do I get my domain's EPP (Auth) code another way?
See Transfer a domain registration away from DreamHost for the Transfer Domains page method.
