How to add a DreamHost email address to Outlook
See the official Microsoft 365 support page for more information on setting up and adding an email account to Outlook.
Choosing an account type
When the Choose account type page opens in Outlook, you can select either POP or IMAP. IMAP is recommended.
IMAP Account Settings
On the IMAP Account Settings page, enter the following Incoming and Outgoing mail settings:
-
Server — This is your DreamHost mail server name.
- The incoming server is either imap.dreamhost.com for IMAP or pop.dreamhost.com for a POP connection.
- The outgoing server is always smtp.dreamhost.com.
Make sure you only enter your DreamHost mail servername. Do not use a subdomain such as mail.example.com. You may get an insecure warning if you use the wrong mail hostname.
-
Port — Select the following:
- Use 993 for an IMAP connection or 995 for a POP connection.
- Always use 587 for the outgoing connection.
DreamHost does not support Secure Password Authentication (SPA), so make sure to turn off the SPA option for both incoming and outgoing settings.
-
Encryption — Select the following:
- Set the incoming connection to SSL.
- Set the outgoing connection to STARTTLS.
Adding or removing IMAP folders
