How do I understand the difference between a credit and a refund?
A credit is available when a DreamHost hosting plan or product is cancelled, but the account remains active. A credit that is available can be applied towards other DreamHost services or future payments, and it is reflected as a positive balance on the account.
A refund only occurs when the DreamHost account is closed. When the account closes, any eligible credit will be refunded according to the information provided in the previous tables. For additional information, see the Terms of Service page.
