Overview
A Dedicated server stores all of your MySQL databases locally on the same machine, giving you full root access to modify them as needed.
This differs from Shared, Managed VPS, or DreamPress hosting plans, where MySQL databases are stored on a separate MySQL server.
How do I access a database?
Dedicated server users can manage their databases in the DreamHost panel, just like any other hosting plan.
SSH access
If you are an advanced user with knowledge of the UNIX Shell, you can log into your server via SSH to perform customizations beyond what the panel offers. Please note that DreamHost support is unable to assist with any type of custom modifications to the server.

How do I upgrade to a Dedicated server?
When you upgrade to a Dedicated hosting plan, DreamHost automatically moves all of your databases to the new Dedicated server.
The MySQL service moves even if the don't move data option is selected in the panel.
If you cancel the Dedicated hosting plan, your MySQL databases will be moved to a shared MySQL server.
