Overview
This article lists several hardware upgrades and add-on options to help customize your Dedicated Server at DreamHost.
Lead Time and fees
DreamHost is able to perform the hardware upgrade at a time and date that works best for you (once the hardware is available).
Lead Times
Due to the custom nature of the add-on options, an average lead time of 2-4 weeks (4-6 for CPU upgrades) is required for all upgrades.
Fees
Please note the following billing fees:
- A $100 USD fee applies for upgrades performed outside of the regular 9AM–5PM business week hours for the data center where the Dedicated Server resides. Support will confirm if a fee will apply for your requested date and time.
- Billing is limited to monthly only.
- The total cost of the upgrade is calculated by adding both of the following:
- the base price of your server plan.
- the cost of each upgrade.
Requesting a hardware upgrade
To request an upgrade:
- Submit a support ticket indicating the specific add-on, the Dedicated Server to which the upgrade should be applied, and the time you prefer the upgrade to occur.
- Support will reply with the lead time on your requested hardware availability and the final pricing of the upgrade.
- Respond to the support ticket to approve the final pricing and scheduled upgrade time.
- Support will then proceed with scheduling the hardware upgrade.
Support will notify you when the upgrade is complete.
Available hardware add-ons
The following sections describe the different upgrade options available, along with their lead time and pricing details.
RAM Upgrades

To proceed, log into your panel and add a new server with the desired amount of RAM.
When selecting a new server, make sure to select the option to migrate to a new server.
Additionally, after the migration is complete, you will need to delete your old server to avoid further charges.
If the RAM tier you prefer is not available or you would like to keep your sites on the same server, submit a ticket requesting the amount of RAM you want adjusted on your current server.
CPU Upgrades (Enhanced Tier Servers Only)

GPU upgrades are suited for heavy processing, such as machine learning.

All prices in the tables below assume a 12-Core Enhanced CPU.

- All prices are in USD.
- Advanced disk upgrades are only available to 12-Core Enhanced and 16-Core servers.
