Accessing your DreamPress database


The following describes how to quickly make changes to your MySQL database using the DreamPress Dashboard.

Option 1 — Automatically log into phpMyAdmin

  1. Navigate to the Managed WordPress page.
  2. Click the MANAGE button.
    The 'Manage DreamPress' page opens:
  3. On the bottom right under 'DATABASE (MYSQL)', click the Manage Database button.
    The following page opens.

You can make changes to your DreamPress MySQL database directly in phpMyAdmin, regardless of whether the domain's DNS is pointed to DreamHost. phpMyAdmin is particularly helpful with backing up, importing, exporting, and restoring a database.

Option 2 — Locating your credentials

Your other option is to use an FTP client to connect. The following page lists popular 3rd party FTP clients you can use to connect to your DreamPress server.

Once you're connected, you can use the following article to create and edit files within your client.

Locating your database login credentials

You could also use a 3rd party program or SSH to login into your database. To do so, use the credentials displayed on your DreamPress page.

  1. Navigate to the Managed WordPress page.
  2. To the right of your domain, click the Manage button.
  3. On the bottom right you'll see a DATABASE (MYSQL) section. Toggle Show Credentials to view your database credentials.
  4. Click the copy icon to the right of each item and paste the credentials into your chosen MySQL client.
