What is the Professional Email plan?

This plan allows you to add email service to your Shared Starter, Web Hosting, or a domain registration only account. These types of accounts are not originally configured with email addresses.

How is the plan billed?

The Professional Email plan can be billed monthly or annually. The billing term can be changed at any time from the Manage Plan page.

Are refunds available?

Refunds are not available if you cancel your hosting service while retaining a Professional Email plan. However, DreamHost provides a prorated credit for any remaining time on the canceled hosting plan, which can be applied to other DreamHost services.

How much storage does it include?

Each email address allows up to 25GB of disk storage. Storage usage for every active user on the plan can be viewed directly on the Manage Plan page.

What happens if I cancel my Professional Email plan?

Canceling the plan does not deactivate email service immediately. Service remains active through the end of the current billing term, and the option to reactivate the plan is available for the duration of that period.

What you can do from the Manage Plan page

The Manage Plan page is where the Professional Email plan is viewed, changed, and managed. From here, the following actions are available:

  • Change the plan term between monthly and yearly billing.
  • Increase the number of mailboxes on the plan.
  • Reduce the number of mailboxes on the plan.
  • Cancel the Professional Email plan.
  • View all active users on the plan along with their allocated storage.

Things to know before you start

  • To reduce the number of mailboxes (for example, from 5 to 2), the extra email addresses must be deleted first. Attempting to reduce the mailbox count while those addresses still exist results in an error.
  • Deleting an email address does not, by itself, reduce the number of mailboxes included in the plan. If those mailbox slots are no longer needed, the plan must also be updated to reduce the mailbox count.
  • If the plan's mailbox limit is reached, no additional email addresses can be created until the mailbox count is increased. See Add or delete an email address for more information.

Viewing and managing the plan

  1. Navigate to the Billing & Account page in the panel.
  2. Under Active Plans, click the Manage button next to Professional Email.

    The Manage Plan page opens, where you can adjust the plan usage (mailbox count), storage, the plan's term, mailbox count, and cancellation options.
