Overview
The following describes how to add, manage, or remove the paid DreamShield Protect plan for your website.
Background
DreamHost offers a paid security plan called DreamShield Protect that you can enable through the panel. DreamShield Protect allows you to scan your website for malware and includes the following:
- When you add DreamShield Protect, it immediately runs a scan on your site and will automatically scan it on a daily basis after that.
- You are notified via email if DreamShield Protect finds any issues. Your panel also displays this information.
- If the site is clean, your panel shows this information. An email is also sent that lets you know your site is clean.
You can also review DreamShield's terms and notices for more information.
The DreamShield Scan service is already included at no cost on all Fully Hosted plans (except Shared Starter and Web Hosting Launch), and only allows one scan request per month. The DreamShield Protect plan is a premium service that provides automated daily scans, proactive alerts, and unlimited on-demand scans.
The following steps show you how to upgrade, add, or remove the DreamShield Protect plan.

When DreamShield completes a scan of your website, it emails you the results and any issues found. The email also provides appropriate next steps (including links) to correct any intrusions or other threats.

How do I rescan my site after I clean it up?
-
After you've cleaned your site of any compromised code, you may want to confirm that it's now secure.
DreamShield runs once per day, so it will automatically inform you of any issues the next time it runs. However, if you'd like an immediate scan, please submit a support ticket with the topic set to Abuse/Security. A DreamHost support representative will then scan it for you.
