Overview
DreamHost's webmail service filters spam into a Spam folder using the default anti-spam filters applied to all DreamHost addresses. This article explains how spam is filtered, how to create the Spam folder if it is missing, how to create custom filters, and how to delete spam.
DreamHost purges all spam and trash email messages after 15 days. Please make sure you check your spam and trash messages within this time frame.
If you cannot view these folders, make sure you have subscribed to them.
How are emails filtered into the Spam folder?
The Spam folder is automatically controlled by the default anti-spam filters for all DreamHost addresses. If you find email is filtered incorrectly or not filtered, you can control this using the Allow/Block List feature in the panel. You can also manually drag any emails into the Spam folder as needed.
What if the Spam folder is missing?
If the Spam folder does not currently exist in your email address, you can manually create it.
- Click Mail in the left panel.
- Click the folder icon or the three-dot icon.
- From its dropdown menu, select Manage folders.
- Click the Create button on the right side of the window.
- Enter Spam in the Folder name field, making sure to capitalize it. Leave the other options as their default values.
- Click the Save button.
How do I create custom filters?
Another option is to manually create your own custom filters. This way, you can control which folder spam messages are sent to.
How do I delete spam?
After you have filtered Spam emails, they will be contained in a single folder. You can then delete them all at once.
